How We Help Reduce the Spread of Infection and Lower COVID-19 Risk
We hope you and your family are doing well. Our community has faced a challenging stretch these past several months, and everyone is ready to return to the routines we used to know. Even so, one part of our approach has not changed, and that is our dedication to keeping you safe.
Preventing the spread of infection has long been central to how we run our practice, and you have likely noticed this on past visits. The steps we take are designed to make sure your care feels both secure and comfortable. Below, we outline the infection prevention measures our team follows to protect patients and staff alike.
Our practice follows the infection prevention guidance published by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We monitor updates from each of these organizations so that we stay current on any new rules or recommendations they issue, and we adjust our procedures to remain in line with their guidance.
What to Expect When You Visit
- Before your visit, our team will reach out to ask a few screening questions, and we will go over the same questions again once you arrive at the office.
- Hand sanitizer is available for you to use as soon as you enter the office, and you will find additional stations throughout the reception area and other spots in the building whenever you need them.
- Items such as magazines and children’s toys have been removed from the waiting room, since these types of objects are hard to clean and disinfect thoroughly.
- We schedule appointments in a way that supports distance between patients, which may mean you are offered a narrower range of times when booking your visit.
- Whenever possible, we build in extra time between patients so that your wait is shorter and fewer people are seated in the reception area at once.
Steps We Take to Prevent Infection
- Hand sanitizer is used by every patient before treatment begins
- Team members maintain proper distancing and thorough hand washing habits at all times
- Surgical masks are worn by staff throughout the day
- Personal protective equipment worn by staff during treatment includes the following items
- N95 and standard protective masks
- Disposable gloves
- Protective face shields
- Full surgical gowns
