Caring for Your Teeth After Whitening Treatment

After Your Bleaching Treatment

  • For about 48 hours after a bleaching treatment, your teeth are more prone to picking up stains than usual. During this window, it is best to steer clear of deeply colored foods and beverages that could discolor your teeth. A helpful rule of thumb is that anything capable of staining your clothing is just as capable of staining your teeth.
  • This includes items such as berries, colas and other dark sodas, red wine, coffee, tea, tobacco products, and dark condiments such as ketchup and soy sauce.

How to Use Your Custom Trays

  • Place the whitening gel in the middle of each tooth compartment on the tray, following the guidance provided by our office, so that once the tray is seated in your mouth, the gel rests against the front surface of your teeth.
  • Keep the trays in for the length of time we recommend.
  • Afterward, rinse your mouth and use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently brush away any leftover gel from your teeth.
  • Wash out the trays after each use.
